The final stage of the Study Visit was held during September 18-19, 2017 in the Slovak Republic
The final stage of the Study Visit in the framework of the project «Good Governance in Local Communities: V4 Experience of Strategic planning for EaP Countries» was held during September 18-19, 2017 in the Slovak Republic. The project is implemented by the Euroregion “Dniester” with the support of the International Visegrad Fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands
The project partner Carpathian Euroregion Slovakia prepared a very intensive program of the visit that lasted more than one working day planned within the framework of the project.
On September 18, 2017 in the afternoon participants attended the Local Council session of Kosice. Mayor of Kosice Richard Raši welcomed the delegation of the Euroregion “Dniester” at the City Hall and after that he discussed with participants several issues and made a collective photo.
Then participants visited Kechnec. This village is located 10 km from Kosice. The chairman of the village Józef Konkoly told about the history of the village development since 1990. As a result of a clearly defined vision and a high-quality strategy Kechnec became a powerful industrial center. There is situated the first industrial park in Slovakia, on the territory of which operate 9 foreign companies from 8 countries. The chairman also said that since the 90s the number of the population of the village has doubled, and now the budget of the village is about 70 million EUR.
The next day, September 19, in Kosice participants attended a training “Strategy of Kosice. Kosice 2015-2020 Development Program”. The trainer was Eduard Buras, the Executive Director of Carpathian Euroregion Slovakia. Special guests became the Deputy Head of the Kosice-Tyaganovtsy urban part Emil Petrvalsky and the Deputy Mayor of Kosice, the Chairman of the Carpathian Euroregion Slovakia Renata Lenartova. They told about the practical aspects of the life in this city.
During the training, participants studied the experience of strategic planning and the history of the transformation of the industrial town of Kosice into the European center of culture, transport and logistics.
