The second project press conference was held on October 23, 2017 in Vinnytsia city
The press conference dedicated to interim results of the project “Good Governance in Local Communities: V4 Experience of Strategic planning for EaP Countries” was held at the Euroregion “Dniester” office on October 23, 2017. The press-conference was attended by the chairman of Euroregion “Dniester” Serhii Tatusiak, the project coordinator Anastasiia Lanova, the project expert and the director of Euroregion “Dniester” Andrii Kavunets, the chairman of Vinnytsia regional department of International NGO “Ukraine – Poland – Germany» Oleksii Gavrilov, the project coordinator in Republic of Moldova Veaceslav Burlacu, project participants and representatives of regional media.
The project coordinator Anastasiia Lanova described already implemented stages of the project and explained what the project participants would do next.
The chairman of Euroregion “Dniester” Serhii Tatusiak pointed out that it would be impossible to achieve sustainable economic development without well-defined strategic plan.
All project participants had a chance to share their impressions of the study visit to the Visegrad countries, and they also told what experience they would take as the basis for writing their strategies.
The director of Euroregion “Dniester” and the project expert Andrii Kavunets added that although both Ukrainian and Moldovan legislation didn’t stipulate compulsory writing of strategies, they should be written in order to plan community activities in an appropriate way and, accordingly, to prioritize the interests of the territorial community.
- We know that writing of strategies isn’t compulsory in the V4 countries, but for the question "Why are you doing this?" our colleagues from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary give a simple answer: "We just want our people to know in what direction our community moves, and we want to attract grant programs", - Andrii Kavunets said.
The project coordinator in Republic of Moldova Veaceslav Burlacu indicated that strategies should be elaborated basing on the best practices of the Visegrad Four, which the project participants had a chance to observe during the study visit.
- We don’t have experience in the field of strategic planning. But after the study visit, each participant realized how the society should develop in practice, - Veaceslav Burlacu told.
While the project participants will elaborate their development strategies, the project experts will work on the strategic planning guidance. These materials will be available both in printed and electronic format. Also the Guidance will be posted on the websites of the project and the project’s partners.
Anastasiia Lanova also added that during the study visit participants had enough time to get to know each other and some of them even managed to agree on cooperation. For instance, one cooperation agreement was concluded between village Horodkivka of Kryzhopil district (UA) and Moldavian village Vasilcău, and the second one was concluded between urban village Tomashpil (UA) and village Sauca (MD).
- New partners have already conducted several working visits to each other's communities, discussed possible areas for further cooperation, and also have concluded cooperation agreements, - the project coordinator said.
After the press conference, cooperation agreements were signed between Euroregion “Dniester” and three territorial communities from Ukraine (Kunka, the village in Haisyn district, Horodokivka, the village in Kryzhopil district and united territorial community of Sokyryntsi) and two territorial communities from the Republic of Moldova (Sauka, the village in Ocnita district and Cobilea, the village in Soldanesti district).
