Project participants currently finalize their individual communities development strategies
The project “Good Governance in Local Communities: V4 Experience of Strategic Planning for EaP Countries” is still in progress.
The project is being implemented by Euroregion Dniester with financial support from the Visegrad fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
10 territorial communities from Vinnytsia region and 4 from the Republic of Moldova currently finalize their individual development strategies based on knowledge and experience gained at trainings and the study visit in Visegrad Countries. Strategies have being actively developed during 4 months with advisory support from project experts.
Project organizers together with experts have visited each pilot community and participated in public hearings or local council sessions dealing with issues of consideration and approval of development strategies.
As of February 23, four strategies are approved by local councils and ten strategies are under consideration at public hearings.
- The project objective wasn’t intended on getting ready and approved community development strategies. Our main goal was to help the communities to prepare high-quality drafts of the strategy, which shall undergo a long process from public discussions to their approval by local councils, - the project coordinator Anastasia Lanova said.
- The main difference between a strategy and a socio-economic development plan is that one shall conduct the community analysis to determine its needs, strengths and weaknesses at the first stage of writing the strategy. Public opinion polls are carried out to rank what is more important for residents. Then community development priorities are identified. And the strategy determines in what direction the community shall further develop, - project expert Andrii Kavunets explained.
